colour has taken possession of me; no longer do I have to chase after it, I know that it has hold of me forever... colour and I are one... I am a painter.

Color ~ And How To Change It On Your Blog ~

hand-hooked-rug-hiding-rabbits~hiding rabbits hooked rug~

As you can see, I am remodeling my blog...again. You can let me know your opinions if you'd like...right now, this background is looking like chocolate milk, a food I love but not so sure I love it as my blog background. I loved it on the Cote Bastide site. That's my favorite for bath products {and house lovelies if you can afford it!}.

I have found a wonderful new site for color codes for blogs and websites. I am experimenting. I'm thinking of starting another blog called "Art of the Eccentric" {good title, no?} and have been experimenting for a few days on that blog so you haven't seen it here. Good thing! Here is the link to the color site:

http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html

This is the best site for choosing colors I have found. I love color so am always checking these sites out. They are a lot of fun...really! A lovely bloggy friend named Gypsy Woman asked me how to change {fill in blank:} I can't answer most of her questions I'm sure, but I can share with her {and you} how to have more exciting color choices than is shown in "fonts and colors" of your blogger blog. But first things first~for Gypsy Woman!

At the top of your blog page, on the right, is the word "Customize". Click that and you will land on the page that lets you change everything, well, most things in your blog. On the left at the top, click "Layout" and then "Edit HTML" in the tabs. You can also click the tab "Fonts and Colors", where you have several choices for background, etc. for your blog. I don't usually like them so I click "Edit HTML" and it opens to lots of scary ~AND FUN! ~ looking code.

In the "Edit Template" scroll box to the left is your blog template. Above that, it says "you may want to save a copy of it" and "download full template", but for this, you won't hurt anything. Save if you don't like to live dangerously ;) and then scroll down to "Variable Definitions". Here is where you can change your colors to something other than what is offered in "Fonts and Colors", if you don't like those choices. {*It won't work to simply change the number in the box on that page*} Below "Variable Definitions" are the color variables you can change, like background color or text, etc. You can see for "Page Background Color" {your first choice}, the next line is a bunch of code. Go over to the "value=#......">. That number is the "Hex" {hexidecimal} code for the color and what your template understands as red, cerulean or olive green, etc.

On the color site you will see, if you click on the different color combinations on that page, a long table of color choices with #...... next to them. Those numbers next to each little color box are what you enter in the "value" box of your template code. Pick a color and copy the number. Now delete the number in the Variable Definitions of the color you would like to change and replace it with your new number {or combo of numbers and letters}. There needs to be 6 numbers and check to see you have not put in an extra [#] or deleted the ["] at the end of the number or it will scare you with "Error..."

Now click "Preview" or "Save Template" at the bottom of the Edit Template box. My Preview button hasn't been working but that would be the best choice because you can go back and forth checking it until you get a color you like. When you like it, click "Save Template".

In case I have forgotten or you do something wrong, always make a note of what you have changed so you can go back and fix it. No problems. Nothing will break. Promise!!

Now, back to my chocolate milk.... :)

I've thought about remodeling but so far I rather like my plain style. Just managing to do a post or two a week is about as much extra effort as I can manage what with the job, the painting and having some time left to read and visit blog friends. I do like your new colors though.

btw - Guess whose Adventure's Ink blog got seriously hit by the eastern spam squad last night? At least 6 of them on every story and it took me an hour clean them out :-(

Oh, oh, oh - I'm loving this New Look!

Linda darling, please forgive me, klutz that I am. I realised in the middle of last night that I'd left your name off my list of special blog friends and it made me sit up with a jolt and shriek loudly. I'm afraid I did that post in a tearing hurry and although I'd jotted down all the names in the draft, I obviously skipped one when copying to Live Writer. Please, please accept the Sisterhood Award because I truly love our exchanges and your visits. It means a huge amount to me. Every word I wrote about friends on that post applies to you. Doof, what an edjit I am....my most abject apologies. (Your name is there now, of course)

I used to have a black background colour with red font and people hated it. They said it was hard to read. I reluctantly switched to white background and white text. The funny things is now I like it.
I also like your cranberry background and the bunnies are adorable.xoxo

hi tessa,
tho you were suffering a bit of unfounded (imo) angst over this, you really had me laughing in your description of your woeful night's sleep! and now I have a new word--edjit!!! :)

thank you so much for including me...I am already composing my list, ack, not so easy and now *I* am afraid of leaving someone out! ♥

hi lylah, tho I popped over, I wanted to say hello here too and welcome you again to my blog...have fun, stay awhile and thanks so much for leaving me a comment! it's so appreciated ♥

Yikes, I have so screwed up this MY comment order...just took some meds and apparently they make me worse than is *usual* meaning-whatever that means! :)

dear susan, oh no oh no, the japanese spam fleet has struck another one? how do I know they are japanese? I translated them! don't- is my advice!

what to do what to do, is the sky falling? now you are going to have to moderate and commiserate and obliterate...aren't they a pain? knock wood, they have left me when I hid their object of pleasure, that ONE post...don't delete the posts they hit, just put them into draft for awhile and I think they will go away, they seem to somehow use the posts for spamming, who knows how...fingers crossed they leave soon for warmer waters!

hi dear belette, I apologize I have not been out and about to leave you a comment yet today on your next 10 things but will soon, when the stomach calms down...yes, I had some rather rude comments about my black background and being hard to read tho I never thought it was...I get tired of things being the same tho so I do change this up every so often...this needs to be darker tho I think...I think with photos, lots like mine, a darker background looks better while if your blog is mostly text, like yours [people smarter than myself :) ] then a lighter backgd maybe? I don't have any trouble reading the darker backgrounds so I say, do what you like :)

xoxoxoxo to you all! and apologies for getting things out of order this morning...

So THAT'S what attracted me to your blog couple months ago--other than the content--the COLOR! And for sure, i like "color", all color, LOTS of color, such as in your painting...(top).

I've copied that site, AND your suggestions/directions, intend to use it...next week, gotta spruce up my own blog.

Thanks SO much, believe me!
PEACE.

hi steve, glad you made it home safe on your scooterbike [is it pc to call it that or is bike the right word? hmmm] ... hoping to see some colorful blogs soon, lol.

Hi Linda!

It looks BEAUTIFUL! Isn't it fun to play?

Also... I love your new avatar!

As you know, I'm always tinkering with my blog design. OMG...I've had it so many different ways. But like Susan shared, I like the simplicity of a white background. Of course, my blog is more writing than photos, so it makes it cleaner to read. But for a photo/art blog such as yours, I think the use of color is wonderful. I also had it with a black background at one time, but got tired of it very quickly.

Anyway, my friend...thanks for sharing the link. I'll definitely check it out!

Hope you had a great day!
